Check out some highlights from out first ever We B-E-E Spelling: For Education event on November 14, 2013.
Here we go again! We B-E-E Spelling: For Education returns to Brooklyn on Friday February 28th at Coco 66 for a night of fundraising tomfoolery and brain busting competition. We are proud to be partnering with Blue Engine, an amazing NYC-based foundation that partners with low-income public high schools to increase academic rigor and prepare dramatically greater numbers of students for post-secondary success.
Check out our Facebook event page for all the details and donate HERE to sign up and get your ticket to attend or, if you are so brave, compete in our tournament of word construction. Everyone who donates online will receive one free drink ticket; participants will receive a wristband good for a drink for each round he/she stays alive. Participant spots are limited so don't waste time if you're planning on impressing us all with your brilliance.
$15 - Entry Donation + Free Drink Ticket
$25 - Entry + Free Drink Ticket + Pop Quiz Participant (on the spot trivia for prizes and bar tabs)
$35 - Participation in Spelling Bee + One Drink Per Round + Official We B-E-E Spelling T-Shirt
Let's do this thing!
We love funny t-shirts. We know you do, too. And what's even better than a funny t-shirt? One designed by YOU.
We B-E-E Spelling is holding a logo design contest for the upcoming Blue Engine fundraiser on Friday, February 28th. As those of you that attended our inaugural event know, all Bee competitors receive a SUPER COOL We B-E-E Spelling t-shirt as part of their participation fee. We want one of you talented artists, graphic designers, and/or maker of pictures to come up with our next design.
Here are some basic rules:
- Keep it clean. No one needs to walk around with a big ol' swear word or explicit imagery on their shirt. That's what we have our mouths for.
- Keep it basic. Black and white. Feel free to hand draw and scan if you're not a graphic design geek.
- Make it funny. All good t-shirts are.
- Prominently include the words: We B-E-E Spelling (duh.)
Johnny, tell 'em what they'll win! How about an open bar, a couple free t-shirts, your design on a TOTALLY SICK zip-up hoodie and the overwhelming pride that comes with the artist's ego! Not too bad.
Send in your submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "WBS T-SHIRT DESIGN" and a .jpg, .png, or .pdf of your submission. Submission deadline is TUESDAY FEBRUARY 18.
We can't wait to see your beautiful creations!
